How to create a printable pick list from IW32 so that the warehouse manager can pick parts without issuing them to the service order until a later time?

Hi,

I'm hoping someone can give me some guidance on which transactions to use for the following scenario:

- A service order is created when we're asked to do field work by a customer (IW51/VA02/IW32)

- I want to enter a list of inventory items for the field techs to take with them to the job site (IW32)

- I want to be able to give the warehouse manager a pick list to remove items from the warehouse and give to the field techs for their trip

- Often times, our guys take more parts than they need because they never know for sure what the problems on site will require

- The field techs bring back the parts they didn't need to use, which are to be put back on the shelf

- I want to be able to delete the line items in the service order for the parts which didn't get used (IW32), then issue the parts which we do need to account costs for to the job (MIGO? MB1A?)

There have been a lot of older guys running the show for a while, and they rely a lot on paper based tracking. I feel like there must be a way to track all of these movements within SAP, but I'm not sure what the right way or most efficient way to do so is.

My main issue is finding a way to have the parts reserved, and printing a pick list for my warehouse manager to have something to actually hold in his hand while he goes and physically takes the parts from the shelves, which can then be signed by the field tech who is taking responsibility for the parts making it to and from the job site.

Then when the field tech returns, someone can use IW32 to delete the lines for the items which are being returned (or whatever is the best way to do this), and then only actually issue the parts which were left on the job site.

The way it's been done previously is the old warehouse manager would goods issue every single part that got taken, and then back out the goods issue when parts were brought back. The field techs would write out a list on paper which the warehouse manager then used for picking and issuing, part number by part number. I'm not 100% sure how he even did this, he never entered the parts into IW32. I'm pretty sure he just used MB1A to decrease inventory levels accordingly, and have the costs show up in the job. However, he just got laid off and we have a perfect opportunity to revamp our materials management processes.

I want to see all the items with costs (parts, service reqs, etc) listed in the Components tab of IW32. I like being able to view the reservation and see not only the items which end up being used and issued, but also how it shows me what has been deleted (so I can track what parts were taken but not used).

Thanks!
